Help Engoo Help the People of Ukraine

On Thursday, February 24, 2022, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine. 

Since then, Russian forces have occupied several regions of the country and launched bombing and artillery strikes against multiple cities. 

Reports suggest that more than one million Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes and there are growing numbers of civilian casualties. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine as we hope for a swift end to this conflict.

At Engoo we have staff and tutors from both Ukraine and Russia, which makes this a difficult topic for us to navigate. 

We strongly oppose the war and support Ukraine. We also recognize that responsibility for this conflict lies with Putin and Russia's ruling elite, not the Russian people, many of whom also want the war to end.

We have already reached out to our tutors in Ukraine and are taking a number of steps behind-the-scenes to support them through this difficult situation. 

But we also wanted to find ways to help the people of Ukraine more generally. Therefore, we will be running a fundraising campaign for the Red Cross to provide essential support to those directly affected by the conflict.

For each lesson taken on Engoo from Saturday, March 5 to Monday, March 7, we will donate 20 JPY (US $0.17) to the Japanese Red Cross Society to help fund aid efforts in Ukraine.

This money will come directly from the company, and not from our tutors' lesson fees.
