Meilin

I graduated from FIT in NYC with a degree in Fashion Design and spent 16 years working in this industry, leading design teams and successfully creating seasonal collections.

For about five years, I've volunteered at MTC (Matahari Terbit Center—a center for underprivileged children with cerebral palsy in Bali). As a team, we've produced a haven of love, structure, learning, and healing for the children and their families. I assist in tutoring an array of subjects, such as English, math, and arts and crafts. My involvement ranges from tutoring and organizing lesson plans to heading marketing, fundraising, and creating their newsletters. This ongoing experience cemented my desire to foster student development and empower and encourage people to succeed.

I love sharing knowledge, which led me to make a life and career change. I've tutored in English and Spanish and am loving being part of this community. I have lived, studied, or worked in countries as diverse as Indonesia, India, Kenya, Argentina, Switzerland, Ecuador, and Sri Lanka, and more. I feel this vast exposure to cultures, religions, and traditions has enriched me with the capability to understand without judgment, to have patience, and to show compassion. I have a talent for languages, as I also speak fluent Spanish. I love traveling and the outdoors, Muay Thai training, writing poetry, and being surrounded by friends and family.
